HANDICAP SYSTEM

The Eshquaguma Club Score Card reflects an 18-hole layout. Par for men will be 36-36-72; for women, par will be 38-38-76. This has been accomplished with additional and revised tee boxes while retaining nine greens. Four different colored tee markers will be maintained on each hole, two for men and two for women. It is imperative that you play the designated tees for each nine-hole round to assure that valid handicaps are calculated.

We will continue to maintain nine-hole handicaps for those players who normally play less than eighteen-hole rounds. We can only maintain either a nine-hole or eighteen-hole handicap for each golfer, so you are requested to designate which system you prefer to the Pro Shop manager.

A box to receive scorecards is installed outside the Pro Shop so cards can be turned in after each round. The scorecards provide spaces for Date of Play and Scorer. Please complete both sections prior to turning in the card.

Instructions for adjusting your golf scores to comply with USGA handicapping procedures will be posted and available for golfers in the Pro Shop.

Eshquaguma is also a member in the Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN). GHIN is a computer service for calculating USGA Handicap Indexes for Eshquaguma members. The Handicap Index is designed to allow golfers of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis and, thereby, increase the enjoyment they derive from a round of golf.

For handicap purposes, please adjust your scores accordingly before turning in your card. If you need assistance, the Pro Shop Manager will be happy to provide same. A score sheet will be provided on the Pro Shop wall for members to post their adjusted scores. It is the responsibility of each player to record his/her scores. Any player who does not record his/her scores will be given a “zero” handicap if he/she chooses to enter any organized event, including ERA. If anyone does not want a handicap (or pay $16.00) the same “zero” handicap will apply.

Members without an estimated nine- or eighteen-hole handicap will not be eligible to participate for prizes in scheduled club handicap events.

SPECIAL CLUB RULES FOR MOTORIZED GOLF CARTS

Due to the increasing number of motorized golf carts being used on the Course, it has become necessary to issue instructions regarding their use.

1. Where cart paths are available, all golf cars must use them.

2. After leaving cart paths, please fan out; do not use one path or trail.
3. Greens and some tee areas have been chained off with yellow chains. Please stay well clear of these areas.

4. Keep motorized golf carts off the fairways as much as possible. Use roughs for cart travel! Use 90* rule to cross fairways.

5. Adhere to the rule of one motorized cart per two players. Players playing in a twosome are not to use more than one cart: foursomes are not to use more than two carts. Pro Shop attendant has the authority to enforce this provision.

6. Minors are not to use a motorized cart without the presence of an adult. (A minor is anyone under the age of 16.)
7. No motorized carts will be allowed on the course when posted as such.

Adherence to the above rules will have a significant impact upon the amount of maintenance which must be performed on the Course grounds as a result of compaction from motorized golf carts.
